Privacy Policy

Who we are

FindMyMinis (findmyminis.com) is a community-driven directory for discovering tabletop miniatures. It is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom. For data-related enquiries, contact us at privacy@findmyminis.com.

What data we collect and why

Visitors (no account required)

  • Page view analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages are popular and how visitors navigate the site. GA4 collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, time on page, and approximate location (country level). No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.
  • Session cookie — We set a single anonymous session cookie (fmm_session) to consistently assign you to an A/B test variant across page loads. This cookie contains a random identifier with no personal data. It expires after one year.
  • Display advertising — When active, we use Google AdSense to show display ads. AdSense may set its own cookies and collect data to personalise ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can manage ad personalisation via Google's Ad Settings.

Registered users

Creating an account requires an email address, a screen name, and a password. We also ask whether you would like to receive occasional marketing emails (opt-in, unchecked by default). We store:

  • Email address — stored securely in Amazon Cognito. Used only to verify your account and, if you opt in, to send marketing emails. Never stored in our application database and never shared with third parties for their own marketing.
  • Screen name and display name — publicly visible on content you submit.
  • Marketing opt-in preference — recorded at sign-up and stored alongside your account. You can change this at any time from your account settings.
  • Submitted content — links you submit and node suggestions are stored in our database and publicly visible. They are associated with your screen name.

Affiliate links

Some links on FindMyMinis — both community-submitted links and the "Find at retailers" search links — may include affiliate tracking codes. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are processed by programmes including Amazon Associates and Awin. These services have their own privacy policies governing click tracking.

How we store your data

Our infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the US East (N. Virginia) region. User authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito. Application data is stored in Amazon DynamoDB. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

How long we keep your data

  • Account data — retained for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your account and associated personal data within 30 days.
  • Submitted links and suggestions — may remain on the site after account deletion as they are community contributions, but will be disassociated from your screen name on request.
  • Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for 14 months per Google's default settings.
  • Session cookie — expires after one year, or immediately when you clear your browser cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data.
  • Objection — object to processing of your data for direct marketing at any time.
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — for marketing emails, you can opt out at any time by contacting us. We will action all opt-out requests within 5 working days.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@findmyminis.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
